Federal prosecutors charge seven noncitizens in North Texas over alleged illegal voting; two more charged locally
At a Fort Worth news conference Tuesday, U.S. Attorney Ryan Raybould for the Northern District of Texas announced charges against seven noncitizens — six by Sept. 10 indictment and one by complaint — for alleged voting by an alien, false statements of citizenship to register or vote, or false statements on a naturalization application tied mainly to the 2024 general election in Tarrant and Dallas counties. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s office said it collaborated with the U.S. Attorney’s Office, FBI, and HSI on the arrests. Tarrant County prosecutors separately charged two additional people, bringing the publicly announced local total to nine. Prosecutors said most of the federal defendants are lawful permanent residents; one is described as an undocumented noncitizen previously ordered deported. Several cases involve alleged provisional ballots that were rejected. Defendants are presumed innocent.
