Joe diGenova resigns as DOJ counsel overseeing Florida probe of Trump investigators
Joseph diGenova, the Trump ally tapped in April to oversee a Florida-based Justice Department inquiry into whether former intelligence and law-enforcement officials conspired against President Donald Trump, told Reuters and other outlets Thursday that he has resigned. ABC News first reported the departure; diGenova said it was an "honor and privilege" to serve the president and the department and declined to elaborate. CBS News reported he submitted his resignation letter to Attorney General Todd Blanche at 3 p.m. EDT and that his wife, attorney Victoria Toensing, who also worked with the Fort Pierce team, will leave Friday. The probe has issued recent grand-jury subpoenas but has not produced charges. A DOJ spokesperson did not immediately comment.
